Sandboarding in Huacachina allows you to slide down massive dunes, guided by experienced drivers and instructors. Combined with a dune buggy ride across the desert, this tour is pure fun and adventure.

It is the perfect short escape from Lima, ideal for travelers looking to experience Peru beyond the Andes and add an active desert adventure to their itinerary.

What to Expect

The highlight of this tour is the dune buggy ride across the desert surrounding Huacachina. Professional drivers take you up and down impressive sand dunes before stopping at the best slopes for sandboarding.

You can choose to board down the dunes lying on your stomach for speed and stability, or try standing if you are more experienced. No previous experience is required.

Transport from Lima can be arranged as an optional add-on. You may also choose to include an overnight stay in Ica or Huacachina to enjoy the desert sunset and relaxed atmosphere of the oasis.

Huacachina is located approximately 4 hours south of Lima by road. Many travelers combine sandboarding with a visit to local vineyards in Ica. You can combine Ica with a visit to Paracas and visit the Ballestas Islands and / or continue

The best time for sandboarding is in the late afternoon, when temperatures are cooler and sunsets over the dunes create spectacular photo opportunities.
