You will be picked up from your hotel at 8am, before leaving Cusco and driving 4 hours to the put in at Huallpachaca bridge, 2000m above sea level. Here the guides prepare all the equipment while the passengers have lunch. After lunch we give out your wetsuits, splash vests, lifejackets, helmets and paddles, and give a detailed safety talk in English. Emphasis is put on training all passengers to deal with any of the possible situations - in how to get back into the raft, flipping the raft, swimming a rapid etc.
This afternoon we are on the river for approximately 2 to 3 hours running class II and III rapids. This gentle section of the river is used for training and getting to know everyone in your boat. We camp in a narrow gorge with spectacular canyon walls. Here the guides will prepare dinner and a camp fire once it gets dark.
After breakfast we start rafting around 9:00am. Today we will be in the water for about 6 hours, running mostly class III and IV rapids. We'll stop for lunch and then arrive at camp around 4:00pm. We sleep on a sandy beach under the night sky of the southern hemisphere.
After a good breakfast we are going to be rafting through a couple of class V rapids with names such as "tooth ache", "you first" and "last laugh". After 3 to 4 hours of rafting we arrive at the take out, where we pack all the equipment, have lunch and drive back to Cusco, arriving around 6:00 pm.
