The Maras and Moray tour is one of the most fascinating half day excursions from Cusco. It combines impressive Inca engineering with living Andean traditions in a compact and easy itinerary.

Moray features mysterious circular terraces believed to have been an Inca agricultural laboratory. The unique microclimates created within the terraces demonstrate the advanced knowledge of the Incas.

Nearby, the Maras Salt Mines present a completely different but equally stunning landscape. Thousands of salt pools cascade down the mountainside and have been used since pre Inca times.

What to Expect

You are picked up from your hotel in Cusco and drive through beautiful Andean highland scenery toward the Sacred Valley.

At Moray, your guide explains the history and theories behind the circular terraces and their agricultural significance. You have time to walk around and enjoy panoramic views.

At the Maras Salt Mines, you walk along designated paths overlooking more than three thousand salt ponds. Local families continue to harvest salt using traditional techniques.

The tour is relaxed, easy, and suitable for all ages.
