City Tour Cusco: Why Go

City Tour Cusco

Cusco is often called the Heart of the Inca Empire, and this city tour is the perfect way to explore its rich history and stunning architecture. From grand colonial churches to ancient Inca temples and impressive ruins overlooking the city, the Cusco City Tour combines the best of Inca and Spanish heritage in just a few hours.

This is the ideal introduction to Cusco — perfect for your first day in the city.

What to Expect

Your guided tour begins in the historic center of Cusco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the Cathedral, famous for its colonial art (400 paintings from the Cusquena school) and intricate altarpieces, and the Koricancha (Temple of the Sun), once the most sacred Inca temple and according to the chroniclers with walls entirely covered with gold.

Next, travel just outside the city to explore four fascinating archaeological sites:

  • Sacsayhuamán – a massive Inca fortress built with huge stone blocks
  • Qenqo – a mysterious ceremonial site carved into rock
  • Puka Pukara – an ancient military outpost
  • Tambomachay – known as the Inca “Baths,” with flowing water channels and fountains

Throughout the tour, your guide will bring history to life, explaining the mix of Inca and colonial influences that shaped Cusco.
