Description

Chachani Mountain Trail 2D/1N

Given the name "The White City", Arequipa is surrounded by 3 spectacular mountains that make the city even more beautiful. These are the El Misti Volcano, Pichu Pichu and Chachani.

Chachani Mountain, situated in the north of Arequipa, is considered among the easiest on the list of the 6,000m mountains to climb in the world.

Itinerary

Day 1

Pickup from your hotel around 8am and leave the city of Arequipa in 4x4 private transport. The journey will take around 2½ hours, passing through the Salinas Reserve en-route. We arrive at a part of the road, around 5,000masl from which point we start our climb. We walk until around 5,325masl where we will establish our camp for the night after around 3 hours walking. During this we will have a packed lunch, as well as appreciate the geographic formations and various types of flora and fauna. The guide will prepare dinner, after which we get an early night.

Day 2

At around 4am we will have our breakfast and then start climbing towards the summit at 6,075m. This will take us approximately 6 hours. At the top we will spend about 30 minutes and enjoy the spectacular view of the volcanic mountain range of southern Peru. We will then start our descent to base camp, pack up our things and head back to the road where our 4x4 will be waiting. We will arrive back in Arequipa at around 4pm. The transfer is to your hotel.

The exact program is subject to change, due to weather and other unexpected circumstances.
