What to Expect

The tour begins in the historic center of Arequipa, where your guide introduces the main landmarks of the city.

You will visit the Plaza de Armas, considered one of the most beautiful squares in Peru, surrounded by elegant arcades and dominated by the impressive Arequipa Cathedral.

From there the tour continues to the Santa Catalina Monastery, one of the most remarkable colonial monasteries in South America. Founded in the 16th century, this enormous religious complex features colorful streets, cloisters and peaceful courtyards.

During the visit your guide explains the history of the monastery and the lifestyle of the nuns who lived here for centuries.

The tour also includes viewpoints where you can admire the impressive volcanoes surrounding the city, including Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu.

Arequipa is often called the White City because many of its historic buildings are constructed from sillar, a white volcanic stone formed by ancient eruptions.
