Where to buy the Best Juice in Cusco
One of the best things of traveling Peru is the amazing food: ceviche, lomo saltado, cuy, and many others. But one of my favoriaries is: the fresh fruit! And one of the best ways to enjoy this fruit is in one of the jugerías that line the streets of Cusco. A glass of fresh juice can cost anywhere from S/. 4 to 10, depending on the location, the fruit, and what you decide to mix with it: another fruit, water, milk, or yogurt. Most jugerías also offer a range of snacks, sandwiches, and Peruvian desserts. So how to pick the best place to go? Here is a quick guide. When traveling in Peru you will be able to enjoy and try the amazing Peruvian cuisine. One of those very famous Peruvian dishes, next to the typical Peruvian fish-dish called “ Ceviche”, is the so called “ Lomo Saltado”. You will find this on the menu of the mayority, not to say all Peruvian restaurnants (with exception of the vegetarian ones). Lomo Saltado is also a dish people like to prepare at home, for their friends and families. The basic ingredient of this dish are slices of sirloin meat and it is served together with onions, fried potatoes, tomatoes and rice. The slices meat, mostly sirloin meat or beef tenderloin, are being marinated in vinegar, soy sauce and pepper. After this French fries, (red) onions, tomatoes and fresh parsley are added. It’s served with white rice and it’s the favorite dish of many people in Peru.

When travelling in Peru, you cannot ignore it: you will probably hear about the dish ceviche, or find it on the menu of any restaurant. It is one of the most famous Peruvian dishes based on raw fish marinated in lemon juice. For every fish- or non-fish-lover the dish is worth a try!

The origin and tradition

Ceviche is a very well-known and popular dish in the Spanish-speaking countries of South-America. Its origin presumably comes from the first inhabitants in the North of what is now Peru and the limes were introduced by the Spaniards. Ceviche is a dish often eaten during lunch or brunch, because it is such a light meal with a refreshing taste. Also, this dish is very popular on the beach and in the capital Lima. Late in the evening it would be unlikely you are able to order ceviche, because the fish would not be fresh enough anymore.
