TripAdvisor, a very popular website offering all types of different advice to people traveling the world, published its list of the 25 best museums in the world over the past year with this year´s list featuring the Larco Museum in Lima, Peru. According to the site, 96% of visitors rated the museum as “excellent” or “very good”.
Officially ranked 22nd on the list, the distinction marks the first time that a Peruvian museum has been part of the prestigious list. While Machu Picchu always has made TripAdvisor´s list of the top ten tourist attractions around the world, other aspects of Peruvian culture have been notably absent from other lists published by the site.
The director of the Larco Museum, Andrés Álvarez , said of the distinction: “I’m happy to be part of this prestigious list sharing this ranking with museums such as the Metropolitan of New York, the Louvre and the D’Orsay in Paris, ‘El Prado’ in Madrid and the National Gallery in London, it is an honor that we humbly believe we do not deserve. However, what this ranking measures is not the size and importance of the collections of a museum but the level of satisfaction that visitors refer to after their visit.“
