Cajamarca in the North of Peru is historically known for the Battle of Cajamarca, which marked the defeat of the Inca Empire by the Spaniards. Here, the Incan emperor Atahualpa was captured and murdered.

This City Tour is the best way to explore the cultural highlights of the historic centre of Cajamarca.

An important highlight of Cajamarca is the “Cuarto de Rescate” or the “ransom room” – an historically important site where Inca ruler Atahualpa was held captive by the Spaniards.

We will also learn about the ancient Belén complex, a church and former hospital of the city together with the museums. Other sites that will be visited are the Plaza de Armas of Cajamarca, the Cathedral and the Iglesia San Francisco.

The last stop will be the beautiful vista point called Santa Apolonia here we will visit the famous “Throne of the Inca” and enjoy the scenic view of the Cajamarca valley.
