Peru encouraging voting for Lima as one of the top world cities

PromPeru is encouraging all Peruvians to vote for Lima as one of the New Seven Wonders - Cities, reported El Comercio.

The first stage of voting will end on January 6th, when the nominations will be announced.

In 2007 Machu Picchu was voted as one of the Seven New Wonders of the World, and last October the Amazon was voted as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

The other 6 finalists were Halong Bay, Vietnam; Iguazu Falls, Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay; Jeju Island, Korea; Komodo, Indonesia; Puerto Princesa, Philippines; and Table Mounta, South Africa.

The Seven New Wonders of Nature were chosen from an initial group of 477 nominees.

"It’s necessary we vote for Lima, our capital, as one nominees in this campaign," said PromPeru, through a press release.
